It’s been a little over a year since the Texas Snowpocalypse of 2021. Since then, movers and shakers in our tiny Texas town have revived our newspaper, The Kingsbury Independent. Mayor Shirley is the editor.
As you see from Cathy’s article above, rural Texas is experiencing a lot of growth, with old ranch property being sold and developed, and lots of newcomers moving in from out of state, just like in my books.
The winter edition seemed like a good place to run a retrospective on last year’s Extreme Winter Weather Event–which, coincidentally, was the inspiration for Snowbound with the Rancher.
After the paper was printed, someone kindly left a copy on our gate box, weighted with a rock. I still don’t know who did this, but whoever you are, thanks!
Yes, Guadalupe County is changing, but Kingsbury is still full of cheerful, neighborly, enterprising, hard-working folks. I’m so grateful to live where I do.
